Value Added Courses

The Value Added Courses aim to provide additional learner centric graded skill oriented technical training, with the primary objective of improving the employability skills of engineering students. The main objectives of the program are:

1. To provide students an understanding of the expectations of industry.
2. To improve employability skills of engineering students.
3. To bridge the skill gaps and make students industry ready.
4. To provide an opportunity to students to develop inter-disciplinary skills.
5. A one week value added course on” Industrial Automation using PLC and SCADA “ has been successfully conducted by our department. All the final year students of EEE were participated in this value added course. Resource person Ms.S.Poovizhi project Engineer, Mr.P.Raguvaran, project engineer, Uniso System India(P) Limited, Salem. This course is intended to provide advanced Engineering aspects of Programmable Logic Controllers(PLC). Emphasis shall be laid on topics relevant to Programmable Logic Controllers programming and troubleshooting, operation characteristics and selection of Programmable Logic Controllers were studied. Also, features and applications of SCADA(supervisory control and data acquisition) which has the ability to monitor en entire system in real time also were discussed. Students participated in this value added couse realized the emerging trends in automation in industries. Topics covered in this value added course are useful in their academic curriculum also.
